Madeline White, a senior at Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School (Lower Gwynedd), has been named a member of PennDOT’s fourth cohort of Young Ambassadors of Pennsylvania.
The program, which is cosponsored by Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, is “an initiative designed to cultivate the passion and leadership of young community stewards,” PennDOT said. “By providing access to essential resources, the program empowers these ambassadors to actively promote a shared vision of a clean and beautiful Pennsylvania within their own communities.”

The Young Ambassadors of Pennsylvania (YAP) Program seeks to build community stewards and civic leaders by inspiring, engaging, and empowering young Pennsylvanians to become ambassadors of our shared vision of a clean and beautiful Pennsylvania. From September through May, the program will engage students in 10th through 12th grades from diverse socio-economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. Every Ambassador will receive Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful merchandise and cleanup supplies as part of the program.
“Restoring and preventing environmental damage means making sure our future leaders have the ecological know-how to make sustainable change happen,” said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll. “Youth across the state are more engaged in this fight than ever before. With the fourth year of the Young Ambassadors program underway, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful and PennDOT are helping plant the seeds for a cleaner future.”
Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful will award two $1000 scholarships, one to a current senior in the Young Ambassadors program and one to an alum of the program.
