Gwynedd Mercy University campuses to remain closed until May 11th

Gwynedd Mercy University has announced that its campuses will remain closed until May 11th and the suspension of the school’s sponsored travel through June 1st. The closure will include the residence halls. The university has taken this action to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

All classes will continue to be held online for the rest of the spring semester. The university’s plan is to re-open its campuses on May 11th for the summer semester.

“The health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and all persons affiliated with our University continue to be of utmost importance,” said University president Deanne H. D’Emilio, JD.  “Based on the best available information, we believe this step is in the best interest of all concerned.”

“We know how important Commencement is to our soon-to-be graduates and their families, and our goal is to postpone Commencement to a time when we can hold an in-person ceremony that allows graduates, their families and the entire University community to celebrate this momentous occasion together,” said D’Emilio in a video message to all students, faculty, and staff today.  “Given the fluidity of the situation, we do not have a new date yet, but will provide more information as it becomes available,” she added.

Most university employees will work from home to provide current and prospective students’ services and support, although a delay in some services is expected.
