A helicopter (bright green pictured above), contracted by NBC10, made a required landing at Sandy Run Middle School in Dresher (Upper Dublin Township) on August 2nd due to a warning light the pilot received mid-flight. The landing was uneventful and no one was injured.
According to Upper Dublin Township, a mechanic will evaluate the helicopter onsite and repair. It is expected that the helicopter will be able to depart the school in the afternoon. Once it is repaired, the helicopter will be required to hover above ground at about five feet for 20 minutes before it is permitted to take off. If the issue that caused the warning light continues the helicopter will be trailered off the school property.
The township advises that you may hear or see the helicopter when it does the testing for 20 minutes and not to be alarmed. The fire company and police department are on the scene and the situation is under control.
The is is the second helicopter to make an unplanned landing in the Philadelphia region today. In Philadelphia, a helicopter landed on a pier near Ikea after running out of fuel.
