Help Make Ambler A Shade Better (Tree Planting Project)

The Ambler Environmental Advisory Council is organizing a shade tree planting project called, ‘Make Ambler A Shade Better’ where Ambler Borough residents are able to purchase trees at an economical cost.

Trees are beneficial to the environment, increase home value and enhance the walkability of Ambler.

The deadline for ordering is Wednesday, September 12th, 2018. Trees will be delivered November 16th, 2018. Request forms can be downloaded from amblereac.org. The fee for the first tree is $55 and additional trees are $80 each. The EAC can assist homeowners in planting the trees.

A variety of trees are available in various sizes. They include Serviceberry, Dogwood, Crabapple, Maple, HoneyLocust, Tuliptree, White Oak, and Elm. Many of the trees are native.

Trees must be planted within 10 feet of the sidewalk, street, driveway or a parking lot.

Residents who don’t have space on their property or are renting, can purchase a tree to be planted in a public space.

The Ambler EAC will help homeowners with the digging if residents need help. Residents can also consult with a landscape architect for free to determine the best tree and location for their property.

“A short application timeline requires property owners to act quickly,” said Mary-Margaret Monser, chair of the Ambler EAC.

Only Ambler Borough residents are eligible to purchase trees. Return form and payment to Ambler Borough Hall at 131 Rosemary Ave. by September 12th.
