Lower Gwynedd Township has scheduled a public discussion on data centers for October 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the Lower Gwynedd Township Building. The meeting will also be avialable via Zoom.
Pennsylvania state law prevents municipalities from banning a legal land use, so many municipalities are considering and adopting ordinances to regulate data centers. Thus far, there has not been a proposal for a data center in Lower Gwynedd.
Data centers have become a highly controversial issue across the nation, including in Montgomery County municipalities such as Upper Merion, Plymouth Township, and Limerick. Public concerns include energy generation, water use, and noise.
