Man arrested for possession of child sexual abuse material is allegedly a retired Cheltenham teacher, girls’ tennis coach

Barry Sussmann, an Upper Dublin Township resident who was arrested on Thursday, April 3 on charges of transferring child sexual abuse material to an Abington-based private business, was a teacher in the Cheltenham School District from 1972 to 2003 and later worked as an assistant with the girls’ tennis team until 2016, when he retired, 6ABC reported.

According to police, Sussman also admitted to possessing multiple images of a similar nature. He was taken into custody and multiple electronic storage devices were taken from his residence to be forensically examined, police said. He was arraigned with bail set at $100,000. As part of his bail conditions, he was ordered to have no unsupervised contact with minors and no internet usage. Sussmann satisfied bail and was released.
