Rover.com released their annual Dog names report for 2017. Does your dog’s name make the list? As reported by Rover.com, 44% of the top dog names are human.
Toping the list for male names are:
- Max
- Charlie
- Cooper
- Buddy
- Jack
And some of the top female names include:
- Bella
- Lucy
- Daisy
- Luna
- Lola
In addition to the top dog names of 2017, the report includes the inspiration behind the most popular dog names of 2017 ( think 90’s culture, Game of Thrones and Stranger Things), top dog names by city and even a dog name generator for new owners.
Television inspired dog names grew 17% this year according to Rover.com’s report. Shows like Stranger Things ignited names like Barb to increase by 182%, and Eleven to increase by 166%. As a whole, Game of Thrones names are up 12%, with Khaleesi, Snow, Arya, Jamie and Sansa leading the pack.
The report also predicts that 53% of dog owners, of which 75% are Millennials, named their dogs after a t.v or movie character, a book character or a celebrity. For example, Star Wars names like, Fin, Luke and Leia are up 70%.
