Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele, Upper Merion Township Police Chief Blaine Leis and Upper Dublin Police Chief Fran Wheatley announced today a homicide and an attempted homicide by Tonya Dupree, 57, of King of Prussia, who was then found deceased in the Schuylkill River.
According to the DA’s report, Upper Dublin police responded to a FedEx Warehouse around 9:30am on Saturday, May 10 after Dupree’s adult son reported to police that his mother, Tonya Dupree, called him out of work and pointed a gun to his head in her vehicle.
The son was able to wrestle the gun away from Dupree before she fled. The firearm was recovered, the DA said.
At approximately 10:15am, Upper Merion Township Police conducted a welfare check at Tonya Dupree’s residence in King of Prussia. Police found her husband, Robert Dupree, 62, deceased in his bed from a gunshot.
Approximately one hour later, a female body was found floating in the Schuylkill River near the 4500 block of Kelly Drive. The body has been confirmed to be Tonya Dupree.
The joint investigation by the Montgomery County Detective Bureau, Upper Merion Township Police and Upper Dublin Police is ongoing, the DA said.
