Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) invites the community to its Spring Dance Ensemble and Performing Arts Showcase concerts. All performances are free and open to the public. They will be held in MCCC’s Science Center Theater at 340 DeKalb Pike in Blue Bell. Get your free tickets here.
On Saturday, April 13, at 7pm, the Spring Dance Ensemble Concert will feature a variety of student-choreographed works, ranging from modern to hip hop. This is the 10-year anniversary of the Dance Performance Ensemble, and to celebrate, MCCC has invited alumni to participate. Alumna Colleen Rafferty of Bowman Dance Company & School will be presenting two dances she choreographed. In addition to the MCCC Dance Performance Ensemble, the concert will include students from Eisenhower Middle School and Denise Gucwa School of Dance.
On Wednesday, April 17, at 12:30pm, students will present a matinee preview of the Spring Performing Arts Showcase. The matinee will be a one-hour variety show with choral selections, guitar performances, Chamber Strings selections and Dance Ensemble dances.
Also on Wednesday, April 17, at 7pm, the Performing Arts Showcase (Evening 1) will feature the MCCC Choir and Friends under the direction of Music Associate Professor Andrew Kosciesza. The first half of the show will include selections by the Guitar Ensemble, the Dance Ensemble, and the Chamber Strings. After intermission the Chamber Choir will perform a cappella selections from the Renaissance, and then the College Choir will present their program entitled, “Rock You,” which will include selections from Queen, Led Zeppelin and more.
On Thursday, April 18, at 7pm., the Performing Arts Showcase (Evening 2) will feature the MCCC Jazz and Friends. The first half of the show will feature several selections from the Dance Ensemble. After intermission the two college Jazz Ensembles will provide an exciting presentation featuring “Pent Up House” by Sonny Rollins and “Spain” by Chick Corea, among others.
The Dance Ensemble and Performing Arts Showcase concerts are presented at the end of every semester and are open to the community.
