Montgomery County Officials Recognize National Day of Remembrance

The Montgomery County Office of Drug and Alcohol Programs honored those who have lost their lives to addiction with a gathering on the steps of the Montgomery County Courthouse.

Along with Katy McGowan, the Administrator for the Montgomery County Office of Drug and Alcohol programs, County Commissioner Valerie Arkoosh, MD, Commissioner Joe Gale, District Attorney Kevin Steele and Montgomery County Drug Treatment Court Judge Steven O’Neil were in attendance.

From the Montgomery County Office of Communication:

“We know that too many have lost their battle with addiction. We continue to strive to eliminate barriers to treatment and work to destigmatize the disease of addiction,” said Kay McGowan, Administrator for the Montgomery County Office of Drug and Alcohol Programs.

This Sunday, the Montgomery County Courthouse will be lit purple to commemorate the National Day of Remembrance, a project of the Addiction Policy Forum. The Office of Drug and Alcohol Programs helps those in the County by helping residents access treatment services and providing financial aid for the uninsured who seek treatment. There is also a 24/7 hotline to help those find treatment.
