New and Gently Used Children’s Books Wanted

The Upper Dublin Public Library is participating in the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s (CHOP) Reach out and Read program.

A nonprofit organization, Reach Out and Read helps young children by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging family reading.

The program started in 1996 and has been implemented throughout Southeastern PA and New Jersey at 13 of CHOP’s primary care practices. Also, the program is at some of CHOP’s outpatient Neonatal Follow-up Programs.

At the Reach Out and Read sites (primary care doctor’s offices), Pediatricians and nurse practitioners encourage parents to read aloud to their children and offer them a brand-new, age-appropriate book at each well visit.

Collection bins will be at the Upper Dublin Public Library lobby and the Upper Dublin Township Building lobby though August 31st. They are requesting:

  • New books for children 6 mths – 5 yrs
  • Like new books for newborns – 10 yrs
