The new playground at Mermaid Park in Blue Bell opened on Saturday, November 16th. Construction on the inclusive playground began earlier this year, and new features include three nature-based “pods,” each offering a variety of sensory, physical, and educational experiences for users.

The Dog Park at Mermaid Park is scheduled to open on November 17th. The opening of the dog park at Mermaid Park will make way for the closure of the existing dog park at Centre Square Park. Whitpain Township is set to construct a community center on the site of dog park at Centre Square Park.

Whitpain Township purchased Mermaid Lake, a former camp and pool club, for $8.177 million in 2020 and undertook a study on how to best utilize the 63.5-acre property for both passive and active recreational uses.
