New principal for Thomas Fitzwater Elementary School starts on November 28th

The new principal of Thomas Fitzwater Elementary School, Hannah Kim, will start at the school on Monday, November 28th. She was named to the position earlier in the month by the Upper Dublin School District. Kim follows Peter Alston who retired after serving as principal of the school since 2010.

“It is truly an honor to serve as the next TFES Principal, shared Kim. “TFES is a unique, special place, and this is a full-circle moment for me. Having the opportunity to lead a school where I taught for so many years is exciting. I promise to work together with the entire TFES community to ensure our school is a supportive, equitable place for our children to learn and to grow.”

Kim is not new to the school district or Thomas Fitzwater. She previously was the gifted support teacher at Sandy Run Middle School, where she also taught sixth-grade English/language arts. Before teaching at Sandy Run, Kim spent 17 years at Thomas Fitzwater. She began her career in education in 2000 as an educational assistant in 5th grade before becoming a 5th-grade teacher in 2001.

Kim holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Temple University and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education with Reading Certification from Arcadia University. She completed her administrative coursework at Delaware Valley University. She is a mother of three daughters, Abby, Ellie, and Annie.
