One week after Jennifer Stomsky’s call for making more martyrs went public, she remains elected tax collector of Ambler, endorsed candidate for re-election, and top Democrat in Ambler

As far as AroundAmbler.com has been able to determine, Jennifer Stomsky has not resigned from the elected office of tax collector, despite calls to do so from a “decisive majority” of Ambler’s borough council and Jason Salus, the chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Committee.

The calls for resignation followed the comments made by Stomsky after the assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10th. The comments involved a Facebook post that called for political violence and stated, “Let’s make some more martyrs. AroundAmbler.com first reported her comments on political violence on September 14th.

Below, AroundAmbler.com breaks down the positions Stomsky continues to hold.

As an Elected Official and Political Candidate

As of September 21st, the Borough of Ambler’s website lists Stomsky as the tax collector as of September 21st. She is also currently running for re-election to this position and remains the Democratic Party’s endorsed candidate.

Throughout the week, we have monitored the Montgomery County Voter Services spreadsheet, which lists candidates for office who have withdrawn from the election since the May primary. Stomsky’s name does not appear. We have also not seen any statements indicating that she is dropping out of the race.

Stomsky is still endorsed by the Democratic Party in Montgomery County. The image at the top of the article is from the Wissahickon Democratic Committee’s website on September 21st, and the “*” indicates endorsement from the Montgomery County Democratic Committee.

Another endorsed candidate, incumbent Whitpain Township Tax Collector Melissa Wanczyk, recently removed Stomsky as her deputy tax collector in Whitpain after Stomsky’s comments became public.

So, the Democratic Party currently has one endorsed incumbent candidate who felt compelled to fire a fellow incumbent-endorsed candidate. There are also four incumbent members of Ambler’s borough council (which called for her resignation), running as endorsed candidates for re-election, who are fellow candidates on the same slate (Karen Sheedy (Ward 1), Redmond Brubaker (Ward 2), Elizabeth Iovine (Ward 3), and David Hui (Ward 3). Mayor Jeanne Sorg, who called for any elected official who advocated for violence to step down, is also an endorsed candidate alongside Stomsky.

As the Municipal Chair of the Ambler Democratic Committee

While Stomsky did resign as the vice-chair of the Wissahickon Democratic Committee, she has not resigned as the municipal chair of the Democratic Party in Ambler. She continues as the leader of the Democratic Party in Ambler.

AroundAmbler.com has not found any indication that Stomsky has been removed or resigned as the municipal chair of the Democratic Party for the Borough of Ambler. Last week, the Wissahickon Democratic Committee’s website listed the committee’s leadership and members. All of the names have now been removed.
