Owners of the not-yet-opened The Fort in Fort Washington named franchisees of Federal Donuts & Chicken

On April 10th, Federal Donuts announced that Chris Magarity and Mike Sloane, who own Jasper’s Backyard, WestSide Bar & Grill, and Catch 101 in the Conshohockens and the not-yet-opened The Fort in Fort Washington, along with partner Michael Heller, are the franchisees who will oversee the Philadelphia suburban expansion plans. In addition to Conshohocken, plans are already underway to open in Willow Grove and Radnor.

“As born and raised Philadelphians, we saw the opportunity to expand the beloved Federal Donuts & Chicken brand across our state,” says Magarity. “Our dedication to exceptional hospitality is at the core of our mission, and we are excited to contribute to this ongoing franchise initiative.”

Federal Donuts & Chicken was founded in 2011 by Chef Michael Solomonov and Steve Cook and quickly became known for its crispy hand-battered fried chicken and freshly made donuts. Since then it has expanded its menu to include fried chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, and breakfast sandwiches. Coming soon to the menu is a three-piece chicken dinner.

In 2022, Solomonov and Cook partnered with Jeff Benjamin, who serves as CEO, and NewSpring Franchise to develop a national expansion plan.

“We are grateful that Federal Donuts & Chicken has resonated with Philadelphians for over a decade. It’s their support that has allowed us to continue to grow within the region and beyond,” says Solomonov and Cook. “We are excited to move into the next chapter partnering with some of the industry’s most successful restaurateurs.”

No timeline has been announced in regards to the opening of the locations in Conshohocken, Willow Grove, and Radnor. If you can’t wait for them to open, our next event Cocktails, Donuts, and Drives on April 27th will feature donuts from Federal Donuts paired with cocktails and brews.
