Photos and a Look Inside Whitpain Township Police Department’s Swearing-In and Promotion of Officers

As we reported, last evening in Whitpain three new officers were sworn in and Sgt. Fenerty was promoted. Here are some more details about the officers and photos from last evening…

The new officers sworn in were:

Officer Jamil Van – Officer Van is from the Downingtown area where he is an AAU youth basketball coach and PIAA basketball official.

Officer Asa Ott – Officer Ott is from the Pittsburgh area and served in the Army National Guard.

Officer Rubia Lloyd –  Officer Lloyd was born and raised in Brazil, became a U.S. citizen in 2017, was a Montco. Sheriff’s deputy and speaks four languages: English, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian.

Sgt. Joseph Fenerty was promoted to Lieutenant. He has an accomplished career with Whitpain Township Police Department having served as a patrol officer, Detective, Detective Sargent. He has trained with the Philadelphia Police Department Homicide Unit and attended the National FBI Academy.

The Whitpain Township meeting room was packed with community members, current and former Whitpain Police Officers and the officer’s families. The new officers were sworn in by Magisterial District Justice  Susan Leonard and Lt. Fenerty’s badge was pinned on him by his wife. All presentations were made by Chief of Police Ken Lawson and all were congratulated by the Board of Supervisors.
