On the April 18th agenda for the Upper Dublin Township Planning Commission is a conditional use application from the Westrum Development Company to develop a 225-unit apartment community at 525 Virginia Drive in Fort Washington (Upper Dublin). The property is currently vacant.

The planning commission will consider whether to recommend to the board of commissioners whether to grand three conditional uses as outlined below:

the Zoning Ordinance, to permit an Apartment Development Use within the GFW
    Zoning District.
  2. The Applicant requests Conditional Use Approval, per Section 255-166(A)(3) of
the Zoning Ordinance, to permit stormwater facilities within the Floodplain
    Conservation District.
  3. The Applicant requests Conditional Use Approval, per Section 206-102.D.(3) of
the Stormwater Ordinance, to permit stormwater facilities (i.e., the detention basin)
to be located within the floodplain on the property.

On its website, Westrum describes its Luxor lifestyle apartments as “highly amenitized, socially integrated, and technologically advanced communities close to entertainment, employment, and transportation.” It has existing apartment communities in Bala Cynwyd, Phoenixville, Lansdale, Montgomeryville, and Wilmington (DE).

In a future meeting, the board of commissioners will determine whether to grant or deny the conditional use application.
