Registration is open for art classes at the Art Center at Ambler. There are a series of classes scheduled to start in January and February that run for up to eight weeks, along with workshops that last from two to four days. There is something for every age and skill level. Registration is available online.

The Art Center at Ambler strives to uphold its organizational mission by providing professional, inclusive access to art resources, education, and community to intergenerational audiences throughout Montgomery County.

35mm Camera and Cellphone Photography
Instructor: George Johnson
Mondays – 12:30PM-3:00PM
8 weeks, Jan 9-Feb 27

This combined class will explain the settings of the 35mm digital camera and how to get proper exposures for better control of your photography, and how to use settings in your cell phone camera. 

We will discuss the different styles of photography and well-known photographers. Class assignments for better composition and how to format your photos for different social media cropping will be given. We’ll also cover downloading free camera software for computers, laptops, and your cell phones. 

All students will select 1 class photography project to enlarge for 8×10 display print.    

Ceramic Hand Building and Sculpture – Morning

Give kids ages 10-15 something creative and fun during the Holiday break. They will complete two unique paintings over 4 days – one themed for winter, and the other for New Year’s Eve. Step-by-step instruction including sketching; painting basics; line techniques; water reflections, and adding final touches to make the paintings pop!

2-Day Workshop
Mixed Media Magic with Collage

Spark your imagination and learn how to think differently in this 2-day workshop filled with art play and art making, using mixed media as a starting point. We’ll focus on basic mixed media tricks, post-modern techniques and trends, create our own decorative papers and make several unique pieces of art.
