SEPTA’s Regional Rail to return to more than 80% of pre-pandemic service starting September 8th

SEPTA has announced that the new Regional Rail schedules that begin Sunday, September 8th (view) will increase service to over 80% of pre-pandemic levels on weekdays and weekends.

Specific to the Manayunk/Norristown line that services the Gwynedd Valley, Penllyn, Ambler, and Fort Washington, the following changes will be implemented with the new schedule for the weekday inbound:

  • 5203, the 5:07 am departure from Doylestown departs 4 minutes earlier at all stations Lansdale to Center City Philadelphia. Train 5203 departs Lansdale at 5:30 am and arrives at Jefferson Station at 6:22 am, Suburban Station at 6:27 am and Penn Medicine Station at 6:35 am.
  • 6505, the 7:13 am departure from Lansdale and 8:09 am Suburban Station arrival operates 4 minutes earlier. Train 6505 departs Lansdale at 7:09 am and arrives at Suburban Station at 8:05 am.
  • 6591, the 6:34 am departure is renumbered to 6589.
  • 5207, the 7:05 am Doylestown local to Center City is replaced by two Doylestown express trains departing at 6:57 am and 7:34 am.
  • New express train 6591 is added and departs Doylestown at 6:57 am, making stops Doylestown to Fort Washington and operating express to Center City, arriving at Suburban Station at 8:16 am. 
  • New train 6507 departs Doylestown at 7:34 am and arrives at Suburban Station at 8:58 am. This train makes all stops Doylestown to Jenkintown-Wyncote and operates express to Temple University.
  • 6593, the 7:50 am Lansdale local operates 8 minutes earlier, departing Lansdale at 7:42 am and arriving at Suburban Station at 8:41 am.
  • New reverse peak train 533 departs Lansdale at 2:33 pm and arrives at Suburban Station at 3:51 pm.
  • New reverse peak train 6527 departs Lansdale at 5:10 pm and arrives at Suburban Station at 6:08 pm.
  • 5227, the 5:14 pm Doylestown departure operates up to 9 minutes earlier, departing Doylestown at 5:05 pm and arriving at Suburban Station at 6:30 pm.
  • 5399, the 5:48 pm Lansdale departure operates up to 2 minute earlier, departing Lansdale at 5:46 pm and arriving at Suburban Station at 6:39 pm.

For the weekday outbound, the new schedule includes the following changes:

  • 2502, the 8:09 am Suburban Station departure is renumbered 512 and operates up to 2 minutes earlier to Doylestown. New train 512 departs from track 1 at William H. Gray III 30th Street Station.
  • New reverse peak train 3504 departs Suburban Station at 8:57 am and arrives at Lansdale at 9:54 am.
  • 3592, the 4:16 pm departure from Suburban Station operates express to Fort Washington and no longer stops at Jenkintown-Wyncote, Glenside, North Hills and Oreland. Jenkintown-Wyncote and Glenside passengers may use Warminster train 6480.
  • New train 6592 departs Suburban Station at 4:34 pm and makes all stops Jenkintown-Wyncote to Lansdale, arriving at 5:29 pm.
  • New train 7572 departs Suburban Station at 6:50 pm and makes all stops to Lansdale, arriving at 7:47 pm.
  • New train 6588 departs Suburban Station at 12:09 am and makes all stops to Lansdale, arriving at 1:05 am.

For weekend inbound, the changes are as follows:

  • Full weekend hourly service is restored.
  • All current weekend Doylestown trains operate 9 minutes earlier. All trains provide service to Penn Medicine Station and the Media/Wawa Line.

For weekend outbound, the changes are as follows:

  • Full weekend hourly service is restored.
  • All weekend Doylestown outbound trains operate 1 minute later at all stations. All trains provide service from the Media/Wawa Line and Penn Medicine Station. Note that Doylestown trains will use platform 5-6 at William H. Gray III 30th Street Station.
