Suspected Ambler Bank Robber Strikes Again in Montgomery Township

A man who is suspected to have robbed two banks in Ambler in 2013 has struck again. Nicknamed the “Straw Hat Bandit” from a disguise he used in an earlier robbery, the man robbed the PNC Bank at 1216 Welsh Road in Montgomery Township on Saturday, July 2nd at about 10 a.m.

The FBI is asking the public for information and has been offering a reward since June 29th.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the robberies or the suspect is urged to call the FBI at 215-418-4000. Anyone with information regarding the most recent robbery is asked to call the FBI or the Montgomery Township Police Department at 215-362-2301.

 

There may be a reward from law enforcement for information leading to the suspect’s capture; tipsters may remain anonymous. PNC Bank is also offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
