Take a quick peek inside The Mary Ambler, a new tavern coming to Ambler

Chef Chad Rosenthal recently offered a quick peek inside The Mary Ambler, a new tavern he is opening at 47 East Butler Avenue in downtown Ambler. Rosenthal closed his long-running BBQ restaurant, The Lucky Well, in Ambler at the end of 2023 and opened Rosey’s Banh Mi in Ambler in early 2024.

On Reels, Rosenthal has shared some videos that provide some ideas about the look the tavern will have. For example, one Reel shows several plates he describes as having been “railroad dinner plates” and in another a cabinet found in Columbia, PA. Everything in the tavern will be from Pennsylvania according to Rosenthal.

The name of the tavern, The Mary Ambler, is for the borough’s namesake Mary Ambler. She is remembered as the heroine of the Great Train Wreck of 1856 that happened near what is now Ambler Borough (then the Village of Wissahickon). Ambler helped organize the rescue of survivors from the wreck.
