Whitpain Township has announced that the recently resurfaced tennis courts on the campus of Montgomery County Community College will be open and available for the residents of the township. With the opening of the tennis courts at the college, the courts at Wentz Run Park will close and be converted to pickleball courts. These courts will open in the early fall.
“We have had strong public demand for pickle ball courts in the Township for years,” said Parks and Recreation Director Mike Richino. “Our partnership with Montgomery County Community College allows us to provide the community with eight newly resurfaced tennis courts, while adding pickle ball courts to meet strong and growing demand from our community.”
The township will continue offering tennis lessons and tennis-related programming. The new pickleball courts will be open, free of charge, for players of all abilities. Lessons and leagues will begin in the spring.
