Upper Dublin grad, Dresher native identified as missing boater found deceased on the Schuylkill River

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office announced that Sean Hagerty, 26, has been identified as the missing boater on the Schuylkill River on Sunday, June 1.

The Montgomery County Department of Public Safety announced on June 2 that the county’s Urban Search & Rescue Team assisted Pottstown Fire Department & Emergency Management with the search.

Hagerty was located deceased around 12:15pm. The Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death to be an accidental drowning.

According to his obituary, Hagerty was a 2016 graduate of Upper Dublin High School and a 2018 graduate of Universal Technical Institute.

“Sean loved spending time outdoors and was drawn to anything mechanical, cars, boats, engines – anything he could take apart and rebuild with his hands,” his obituary said. “More than anything, his love for his family and friends was the truest part of who he was. He had an extraordinary way of showing up for the people he loved. His loyalty was unwavering, his smile contagious, and his humor unforgettable.”

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, June 9 at the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, 1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler. A second visitation will take place from 10:00am to 11:45am on Tuesday, June 10 at St. Alphonsus Church, 1567 Temple Drive, Maple Glen. Family will share Words of Remembrance at 11:45am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial with Pastor Msgr. Brian P. Hennessy as celebrant. Interment will be private.
