The Upper Dublin Public Library in Fort Washington (Upper Dublin) has been awarded a $750,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund, specifically the Keystone Grants for Public Library Facilities. The program provides up to $750,000 in matching funds to improve library operations, install equipment and upgrade security systems.
Senator Maria Collett (D-12), State Representative Melissa Cerrato (D-151), and Representative Ben Sanchez (D-153), who represent the township in Harrisburg, announced the grant on March 13th.
“Our public libraries don’t just promote literacy – they’re critical hubs that provide access to technology and skills training, children’s programming, career help, cultural enrichment, and so much more,” said Senator Collett. “I’m thrilled that the Upper Dublin Public Library will get the funding they need to improve their facilities and continue to serve our neighbors for decades to come.”
Representative Sanchez commented: “The Upper Dublin Public Library was built to be a safe, welcoming and engaging environment for all, and it has become a true community center for the entire township. Knowing that they have obtained the crucial funding they needed to continue to grow and provide innovative inspiration and education to the Upper Dublin community and beyond is tremendous and I am grateful that PDE recognized the value of this phenomenal community resource the way I do.”
“Libraries are the heart of our communities, breaking boundaries and bringing people together in an inclusive and vibrant space for fun, learning, and connection,” Representative Cerrato said. “They are not just repositories of knowledge but also catalysts for inspiration, creativity, and growth, empowering individuals and uniting us as a society. This is why I am thrilled to announce that the Upper Dublin Public Library will receive a $750,000 grant to transform and revitalize its public spaces. This funding will allow them to make essential accessible, energy-efficient, and mechanical upgrades that ensure the library continues to be a welcoming haven for all.”
The library will use the grant to renovate and restore public spaces, improve accessibility and energy efficiency, and make mechanical upgrades.
