Upper Dublin Township announced that a renovation project for the Upper Dublin Public Library is set to begin in 2026.
The project “will restore and expand key public spaces, creating a more flexible, accessible, and welcoming environment for all,” the announcement said. The renovations come as the library regains access to areas currently shared with the Upper Dublin Police Department. Once the township’s new municipal building is completed in late 2025, these spaces will return to full library use.
“These renovations represent the next chapter in UDPL’s service to our community,” said Cheri Fiory, Director of the Upper Dublin Public Library. “By revitalizing these spaces, we’re ensuring the Library remains a place where people can learn, connect, and thrive together.”
Enhancements include an upgrade to the auditorium, which will feature an enlarged stage, theatrical lighting, an advanced sound system with hearing assistance capabilities, and a new Green Room to support performances and presentations. Additional upgrades include improved HVAC systems, programmable lighting, and new screens and monitors to enhance audience visibility and comfort.
The project also includes the construction of more than 3,000 sf of flexible community rooms, a kitchenette with adjacent storage, and renovations to meeting rooms with enhanced soundproofing. The former café, located near the main lobby, will be restored and Meeting Room 120 will be reintegrated as part of a new first-floor community suite.
This project is funded in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, under the administration of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority. Additional support comes from the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, Pennsylvania Department of Education, with funds provided from the Keystone Recreation, Park, and Conservation Fund, the announcement said.
Community members are invited to learn more about the project at the Upper Dublin Township Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, October 14th, at 7:00pm.
