The Whitpain Police Chief, along with the Whitpain Board of Supervisors, presented several commendations to police officers and civilians for two separate events this week.

The first commendation was awarded to Township resident John Campanella who entered a partially frozen pond in early March to rescue a dog who had fallen through the ice.

The other commendation was awarded to a group of police officers and citizens who intervened to prevent a distraught individual from jumping off of the Route 202 overpass at the PA Turnpike. The civilians include William Gould Jr., Melissa Krosty, Jason Duggas and William Rees along with Police Officers Buchanan, Beitler, Kosty, Deluca, and Sgt. Franco.

In addition, the Board of Supervisors honored two scouts from Boy Scout Troop 540 in Ambler for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Brothers Michael and Guy Cimini each performed a community service project in Whitpain.
Michael planned and managed construction of an information board placed at a trailhead on the Whitpain Township Trail Network behind Harvest Drive Corporate Center. Guy installed bat houses at the Armentrout preserve.
Congratulations to all recipients!
