Whitpain Recreation Association Introduces Bambino Buddy-Ball Division

The Whitpain Recreation Association, along with the Babe Ruth League, Inc. is introducing a new baseball division called Bambino Buddy-Ball, which enables intellectually challenged or special needs athletes to play baseball with a “buddy” who, if needed, helps the player to swing a bat, catch a ball, run the bases and is allowed on the field.  This division is co-ed and open to players 5 years old and up. All games will be played at Wentz Run Park on Saturday or Sunday during the Spring.

The goal is to develop confidence and positive self-esteem within players while they participate in organized sports such as Buddy-Ball.   The Whitpain Recreation Association’s website states:

At the WRA we have always believed all children have the right to participate in our programs regardless of their physical or mental ability. That is why Bambino Buddy-Ball is so important and why we are committed to this all-out effort to make sure all our young athletes find their place on the field of play and the opportunity to suit up as members of the WRA family.
