The Whitpain Township Board of Supervisors held its second budget meeting of the year on Tuesday afternoon.

The Board reported that the 2019 budget will hold tax rates steady at 3.2 mills, but Supervisors are examining the need for a sewer rate adjustment in 2019.

The base rate for residential sewer service has remain unchanged since 2007. The draft sewer budget contemplates a sewer rate adjustment of $6.67 per month for base residential sewer rates along with corresponding adjustments to commercial rates.

A variety of issues contribute to the need for a rate change including caring for again infrastructure, sewer relocation costs associated with the 202 Widening Project, and increases in treatment costs and regulations.
