Whitpain Township’s Board of Supervisors votes to take Mermaid Lake by eminent domain if it can’t come to terms to purchase from the developer

At their meeting on July 21st, Whitpain Township’s Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a resolution to take by eminent domain the Mermaid Lake property if the township is unable to come to terms on an agreement of sale with a closing to take place within the next 30-days.

The township published a document that outlines the history of the property, the township’s history on obtaining property, the proposed redevelopment of Mermaid by developer Metropolitan, and the phased plan the township has for the property once it obtains ownership.
