The Wissahickon School District has announced that it will hold a press conference on December 19th, at 3:00 p.m., during which Superintendent Dr. Mwenyewe Dawan will “address an alleged incident that occurred this morning involving misconduct, including antisemitic remarks by the principal of Lower Gwynedd Elementary School.
In the announcement, it states that due to these allegations, “the district has immediately initiated the legal process seeking the principal’s termination.
Philip Leddy has served as the principal of Lower Gwynedd Elementary Schools since the start of the 2023 school year. He previously was a principal within the Spring-Ford Area School District, where he served as the committee chair of the district’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. His Wissahickon School District biography states that he “prides himself on developing, supporting, and maintaining a positive school culture that emphasizes belongingness and collaboration.
Leddy received his bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University and his master’s degree from Cabrini College.
