On the August 21st agenda for the Whitpain Township Zoning Hearing Board is an application that seeks zoning relief to redevelop the two existing buildings on the property at 1 and 11 Skippack Pike in Blue Bell (Whitpain Township) with a restaurant that would include a drive-thru and a retail building. The specific relief being sought is a special exception to allow for a drive-thru (the restaurant and retail uses are permitted). The hearing is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the township building.
The application was submitted by MLG Property Group, LLC, as agent for Azure RE Holdings, LLC
and Silver Maple RE Holdings, LLC.
There was a presentation on the application to the township’s planning commission on August 12th. The planning commission, which is charged with making recommendations to the board of supervisors or the zoning hearing board, did not take a position on this application. You can watch the presentation here (cue to 21:27). You can view the application here.
During the presentation before the planning commission, it was stated that the restaurant would be a coffee shop. It was also stated that the property has been vacant for 22-23 years.
Nearby property owners/residents expressed concerns over traffic and safety issues the business could aggravate at the intersection of Butler and Skippack pikes.
