143 new cases of Coronavirus in Montgomery County with 88 from long-term care facilities

Montgomery County officials today announced during a virtual press conference that there are 143 new cases of Coronavirus in the county. The 143 cases include 88 from long-term care facilities, one from Norristown State Hospital, and 54 are from the community. The total number of cases in the county is now 5,523.

Officials also announced that there have been 11 new confirmed deaths due to Coronavirus. That brings the total number of confirmed deaths to 454. The number of probable deaths, those without a lab test, total 202. Of the confirmed deaths, 398 of 454 or 88% are from long-term care facilities.

Hospitals in the county continue to have almost 300 patients due to Coronavirus and 32% require a ventilator.

In regards to long-term care facilities, 93 facilities report that 1.610 residents have tested positive, along with 597 staff members. Not all residents and staff are residents of Montgomery County.

The 14-day total of positive tests is 1,334 with a daily average of 95.3 based on the county’s data. The goal set by the governor is to have a 14-day daily average of 30. The county is currently off that pace by 65.3.

  • Ambler is at 91, which is the same as yesterday
    • There have been 11 deaths overall in Ambler
  • Lower Gwynedd is at 118, which is two more than yesterday
    • There have been 17 deaths overall in Lower Gwynedd, which is two more than yesterday
  • Upper Dublin is at 137, which is seven more than yesterday
    • There have been 11 deaths overall in Upper Dublin, which is two more than yesterday
  • Whitpain is at 97, which is one less than yesterday
    • There have been four deaths overall in Whitpain
