Phillies remember Curt Simmons who lived in Ambler

Curt Simmons, a former star pitcher for the Phillies, passed away at the age of 93 on December 13th at his home in Ambler. Simmons was the last surviving member of the “Whiz Kids,” which was the nickname for the Phillies 1950 team that won the pennant.

After retiring from professional baseball, Simmons and fellow Phillie Robin Roberts owned Limekiln Golf Club in Ambler (Horsham Township). Simmons managed the club.
