Governor Josh Shapiro and Department of Transportation Secretary Mike Carroll announced today that Lower Gwynedd Township will receive $324,640 to support traffic signal upgrades as part of PennDOT’s “Green Light-Go” program.

The money will go towards upgrades of two traffic signals along Welsh Road: Welsh Road and Evans Road as well as Welsh Road and Darden Drive.

Green Light-Go grants are provided as reimbursement to municipalities for updates to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. Funding may be used for a range of operational improvements including light-emitting diode (LED) technology installation, traffic signal retiming, developing special event plans and monitoring traffic signals, as well as upgrading traffic signals to the latest technologies.

The safety improvements supported by the Green Light-Go program will help municipalities relieve congestion and traffic flow and keep Pennsylvanians moving safely and efficiently,” said Secretary Carroll. “I’m proud that the Department of Transportation will continue to help our communities improve mobility for Pennsylvanians as we continue to deliver real results across the Commonwealth.”
