Former aide at Dresher assisted living facility sentenced for abusing elderly woman with dementia

Rosematte Darelus, 56, a Philadelphia resident and former aide at the Woodland Creek Memory Care community located in the Dresher section of Upper Dublin, was sentenced to 3 to 23 months in prison for abusing an elderly woman with dementia in April 2023, The Reporter said.

According to the story, Darelus slapped the woman in the face after the victim splashed her with water, then forcefully grabbed her by the arm and pulled her into the facility’s dining room. Her charges include abuse of a care dependent person and harassment.

The victim’s daughter told police she “had bruising on her hands, wrists and arms,” according to a criminal complaint.

Darelus was ordered to complete one year of probation and cannot work with care-dependent persons while under court supervision. She must also complete an anger management counseling program and is eligible for the jail’s work release program, which is treated as house arrest. That means Darelus could be released to house arrest within days or weeks after officials verify her employment and approve her application, The Reporter said.
