Ambler family whose home was destroyed by a fire ‘grateful to be alive’, CBS reported

Andrea Lindsay’s family home on the 200 block of Highland Avenue in Ambler was destroyed by a fire Monday morning, CBS News reported.

Lindsay and her daughter had left together for work when Lindsay’s husband called from a neighbor’s house to tell her their house was on fire.

“My brother is the one who was downstairs in the basement, and he said he saw fire,” Brandi Akers, Lindsay’s daughter, told CBS News. “He came running upstairs, my dad went to go get the fire extinguisher, and by the time he went to get that, the house was already engulfed in flames.”

Lindsay said her disabled father was still inside and that her husband, who was able to escape with her son, was unable to rescue him. First responders were able to find him and an ambulance took him to the hospital where he is now reportedly breathing on his own.

Lindsay also said that her cats didn’t survive, but they were able to rescue each of their dogs.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. 6ABC reported yesterday that the fire started around 9:00am and was brought under control around 10:20am.
