Ambler resident and physician opens HHC Workers’ Health and Urgent Care in Willow Grove

HHC Workers’ Health and Urgent Care is located at 2601 Easton Road, the former site of an Abington-Jefferson Health urgent care center.

The facility is owned and co-managed by Ambler resident Dr. Robert K. Heininger, DO, MPH, MBA, a military veteran and former physician for Concentra, an occupational health provider. The office will feature two front desk clerks, three medical assistants, a lab technician and his wife Giselle, who will serve as office manager. A physician assistant is expected to be hired in the near future.

Dr. Heininger

According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, Dr. Heininger “is dually board certified in occupational health as well as public health and general preventive medicine, saw a business opportunity to serve the occupational health needs of small and mid-size employers.”

He has also spent a significant amount of time during his career working with firefighters and police officers.

“I wasn’t seeing people from the small manufacturers or the tow truck operators or the landscapers,” Heininger said. “I liked seeing people from all those different professions. I looked into where they were going and the reality was they didn’t have a lot of places to go.”

From PBJ’s article:

Heininger envisions three separate revenue streams: working with employers to provide worker physicals, drug testing and specialized services such as hearing exams and screening for lead exposure; dealing with workers’ compensation insurers to provide occupational health, rehabilitation and other services to employees injured on the job; and urgent care services to the general public along with general medical services such as lab work, diagnostic medicine, vaccinations, and travel medicine.
