Borough Council Moves to Align Ambler Borough’s Disorderly Conduct Ordinance with State Law

At last night’s Ambler Borough Council meeting the Public Safety Committee considered whether to advertise a proposed ordinance which would amend language within the Borough’s Disorderly Conduct code to bring it into alignment with state law.

See the proposed amendment including additional definitions below:

The change was suggested by Chief of Police Robert Hoffman. He advised that there are situations that would benefit from the amended language. One example would be in the event that a young child is being verbally abused.

The amended language would also allow for an incident involving a minor being cited to be handled locally and not end up on their permanent record.

This proposed ordinance will be voted on at the next Ambler Borough Council meeting on June 18th.
