Two Oscar nominated films are now playing at the Ambler Theater. If Beale Street Could Talk and Green Book both have Academy Award nominations in various categories, with Green Book getting a Best Picture nod.
If Beale Street Could Talk is director Barry Jenkins’ follow-up to his 2016 Best Picture Winner Moonlight. Set in 1970’s Harlem, this poetic adaptation of James Baldwin’s landmark novel of the same name is about a young couple who are planning their life together when one of them is wrongfully accused of a crime.

Green Book, nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture is an uplifting drama about a dignified African-American pianist who hires a rough-edged Italian-American bouncer to chauffeur him across the American South in the 1960s, starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen.
Based on the true story of Don Shirley, Green Book is an exploration of race and friendship elevated by two exceptional performances.
