Flourtown Fire Company chosen for Wawa’s Hoagies for Heroes Day on June 28 | Shares picture of 1928 Seddon

The Flourtown Fire Company has been chosen by the Wawa Foundation as a site for its Hoagies for Heroes program on Wednesday, June 28.

The Hoagies for Heroes program “supports local firefighters, police officers and emergency responders. To celebrate their commitment to the communities that Wawa serves, we often hold Hoagies for Heroes hoagie building contests as part of Wawa’s milestone events, such as store grand openings. These charity fundraising contests benefit the charities of choice of the participating everyday heroes.”

In related news, the company recently shared a photo of a 1928 Seddon truck which was built in Flourtown and purchased in 1929.

From the company website’s History page:

In 1927, the decision was made to purchase a Hahn pumper for $7150. In January 1928, the company purchased a Seddon truck, built by Seddon Truck Company of Flourtown, PA. The idea was to take the chemical truck and remount it on this chassis. The cost of the truck was $2500.
