An accident in the northbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike took place just before 1:30pm on Monday in Whitpain Township, 6ABC reported today.

Investigators said the truck lost its front driver’s side tire, which bounced over the median and struck an SUV that was in the center northbound lane.

Neither driver was injured, but the front passenger of the SUV was airlifted to Jefferson Abington Hospital with life-threatening injuries and the rear passenger was airlifted to Temple Hospital with a head injury, 6ABC said.
