Home Depot Montgomeryville employee charged with $2K in retail theft

George Ruiz, 55, an employee at the Home Depot in Montgomeryville, was charged on January 9 with felony counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property, North Penn Now reported.

He is accused of stealing nearly $2,000 in merchandise between November and December 2023.

The Lansdale resident is currently free on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Montgomery Township police were contacted on January 8 regarding three alleged retail thefts, North Penn Now said.

During a theft incident on December 23, Ruiz was confronted by asset protection personnel. He refused to engage in an interview, police said.

Ruiz’s next court appearance is a preliminary hearing on January 23 at 1:00pm.
