Ian Berg, a Democratic Party candidate for the Wissahickon School Board of Directors, has passed away. He was running with four other candidates as a slate named Wiss Strong. The other four candidates on the slate released a statement on October 28th that stated:
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the untimely passing of Ian Berg, a dedicated father, cherished friend, and passionate volunteer. Ian Berg’s passing is a profound loss, not only to his family and friends but to the entire community. We are grateful for our time with him, and we will honor his memory by continuing to work towards the causes he held dear. His legacy will live on in the positive changes he sought to bring about and the lives he touched along the way.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Ian’s family during this difficult time. May they find strength and solace in the love and memories they shared with him. Ian’s spirit will forever remain in our hearts, inspiring us to carry on his mission of creating a better future for our children and our community.
Ian, you will be dearly missed and your impact will never be forgotten.
With deepest sympathies,
Wiss Strong Candidates Zeffy [Karagiannakis], Paul [Badger], Steve [Walker], and Joe [Antonio]
With voters going to the polls on November 7th and mail-in ballots already in the hands of some voters, Berg’s name will not be removed from the ballot. On the ballot, voters are asked to select five candidates from among five Democrats and five Republicans. If Berg is among the five candidates who receive the most votes, the members of the school board will appoint someone to fill the seat.
The Whitpain, Lower Gwynedd, & Ambler Republican Committees released the following statement:
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Ian Berg, a friend, colleague, and fellow school board candidate, who passed away yesterday. May the family find peace during this unimaginably difficult time.
