Kiwanis Club of Ambler awards Hatboro-Horsham Senior Community Impact Award

Seth Cooper, senior at Hatboro-Horsham High School, lives by this quote by his favorite author, “You have to make your area a better place for others.”

Due to Cooper’s work to do just that, Kiwanis Club of Ambler recently presented him with a
Community Recognition award.

Cooper was involved with the Upper Dublin Tornado Relief Carnival, the Hatboro-Horsham Multi-Cultural Carnival, and the Fort Washington Swim Club Community Day of Rebuilding and BBQ. He enjoyed helping those in the community who were most devastated by the tornado. Cooper was able to see firsthand the damage that was done, and worked to gather supplies and help move debris.

“Seeing the smiles on people’s faces whom I might not know, just by helping out, was a great feeling,” he said. “I also enjoy knowing that when our community is knocked down, we rise up together.”

Cooper was also involved in planning the first Multi-Cultural Carnival at Hatboro-Horsham High School in 2022. After the success of the first carnival, the district agreed to let this become an annual event.

“I hope the carnival will become bigger and bigger each year,” said Cooper. “Hopefully, it will help others in our community feel accepted, start conversations and lead to everyone getting along better.”

Cooper invites the community to attend the second annual Multi-Cultural Carnival on May 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the high school’s Dennis Steinly Stadium.

In addition to serving as president of the Key Club (Kiwanis), Cooper is vice president of Interact Club (Rotary), floater chair of Mini THON, member of the Jewish Student Union, Advisory Board and National Honor Society. He also volunteers with the Special Olympics and is on the high school swim team.

After graduation, Cooper will attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Honors College to study criminology and forensics. Eventually, he would also like to run for an elected office.

The Hatboro-Horsham School District is proud of all that Cooper has accomplished.

“To be a part of this distinguished recognition acknowledging your service to others, was both
my honor and privilege,” said Assistant Superintendent Dr. Monica Taylor. “You are truly a
game-changer, and this is just the beginning of a lifetime of success!”
