The Lower Gwynedd Township Police Department is reminding residents of the township’s Dog Ordinance in response to recent reports of dogs unaccompanied by owners.
“Just a reminder that all dogs must be kept under the control of their owners at all times, whether you are on your property or in a public park,” the department said in a statement, noting that Pennsylvania and Lower Gwynedd Township dog laws require dogs to be on leash and under control when in public.
“When on private property, dogs must be kept on the property and not allowed to run loose,” the statement said. “Dog owners are ultimately responsible for any damage their dogs cause to other animals, people, or property.”
If a dog running loose, residents are asked to call the department’s non-emergency phone at 215-646-5300 or 215-646-5303. If you see a dog acting menacingly, attacking wildlife or other domestic animals or people, please call 911.
