Sergeant Lee Wagner of the Montgomery Township Police Department passed away unexpectedly following a sudden medical emergency on Wednesday August 19. He was 48.

Sergeant Wagner graduated from Perkiomen High School in 1996. In 1999, he joined the United States Navy, where he served aboard the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier as an Aviation Electronics Technician, his obituary said.

Following his military service, Sergeant Wagner graduated from the Reading Police Academy in 2009. He joined the Montgomery Township Police Department in January 2010. He was promoted to Corporal in 2017 and to Sergeant in 2018.

Sergeant Wagner earned numerous awards and commendations, including a Lifesaving Award and several Letters of Commendation during his career. He served in the Professional Standards position and also took on the important responsibility of coordinating the department’s Field Training Program, his obituary said.

“Throughout his career, Sergeant Wagner was known for unwavering dedication to the community, commitment to fellow officers, and professionalism in service to others,” Montgomery Township police said in a post. “Sergeant Wagner will be remembered not only for the badge he proudly wore, but for the lives touched through a career dedicated to protecting and serving others. He believed in putting others before himself, stepping up when others would not, and choosing to provide, protect, and love with his whole heart.”
