On the agenda for the Lower Gwynedd Planning Commission

The October 21st agenda (view) for the Lower Gwyendd Township Planning Commission includes two items, one of which involves apartments. The meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the township building.

The first is a review of a conditional use application and a presentation for land development for a proposed 43-unit apartment building at Ambler Yards at 300 Brookside Avenue in Ambler (Lower Gwynedd Township). In December 2025, the Lower Gwynedd Township Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to adopt a map and text amendment that provides the opportunity for Ambler Yards to seek approval an apartment building and self-storage facility on the mixed-use campus. The township and the Montgomery County planning commissions recommended its adoption.

Now that the zoning is in place, the owners of Ambler Yards is seeking the conditional use approval for the apartments and starting the land development process.

The proposed three-story apartment building would replace homes that have been converted into offices at the corner of North Spring Garden Street and West Francis Avenue.

The second item involves the township seeking a waiver of land development for its new public works garage at 1201 Sumneytown Pike (behind the Giant supermarket).

Planning commissions review applications and can make recommendations to the board of supervisors on whether to approve or deny.
