Police in Lansdale investigating bomb threat involving a train on the regional rail line

The Lansdale Borough Police Department announced at approximately 5:30 p.m. that it was investigating a bomb threat on a SEPTA Lansdale/Doylestown Regional Rail Line train at the West Main Street Transportation Center in Lansdale.

According to police, at approximately 3:04 p.m., an unknown male called 911 and stated he was on a northbound train headed to Lansdale with a bomb and he intended to blow the train up. Lansdale police officers responded to the area and evacuated the train. Members of the Montgomery County Bomb Squad are currently assisting with the investigation.

The Lansdale/Doylestown line services the Fort Washington, Ambler, Penllyn, and Gwynedd Valley stations in the AroundAmbler.com coverage area.

According to the SEPTA website, the regional rail line is experiencing “residual delays” due to an earlier police investigation at Lansdale Station.
