Power outages in North Hills/Oreland leads to ‘shuffling’ brown-outs

Upper Dublin Township officials have provided an update regarding the large power outage affecting the North Hills neighborhood and parts of East Oreland.

From their update, published as of 1:45pm on Tuesday, July 16:

  • A PECO crew is temporarily shuffling power (also called “brown-outs”). You may experience temporary power restoration and then again lose power.
    • This is to help keep the power sites that are operational from shutting down completely.
  • The Upper Dublin Community Pool is open and operational.
    • The pool will be open until 8:00pm tonight (water closes at 7:30pm).
  • It is recommended that if you have a generator, you use it continuously through tomorrow (July 17th) or until power is fully restored due to the temporary brown-outs.
  • The following sites are available for residents without power to cool down and charge devices:
    • Upper Dublin Public Library, until 8:45pm tonight, July 16th.
      • Address: 520 Virginia Drive, Fort Washington, PA 19034
    • LuLu Country Club until 6:00pm tonight, July 16th.
      • Address: 1600 S. Limekiln Pike, Glenside, PA 19038
    • Queen of Peace Church – Lionel Hall (please use the Fitzwatertown Road entrance & follow signs), until 9:00pm tonight, July 16th.
      • Address: 820 North Hills Avenue, Glenside, PA 19038
