Proposed ordinance that will likely bring more apartment buildings to Ambler poised for adoption

On the September 17th agenda for Ambler’s borough council is a hearing and likely vote to adopt an ordinance that effectively allows SEPTA to redevelop a significant portion of its parking lot adjacent to the Ambler Train Station and other developers on nearby properties.

The move was spurred by Montgomery County’s push to increase density near transportation hubs and SEPTA’s attempt to improve ridership by adding apartments to properties it owns in Ambler and other communities with train stations.

The proposed ordinance, along with the full agenda, can be viewed here (proposed ordinance starts at page 8). After the hearing, the council can decide whether to vote on whether to adopt it, consider making changes, or not proceed with it.

The meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the borough building.
